Gerald is the Head of Infrastructure Planning in the Global Market Strategy division of Bursa Malaysia. He is responsible for improving market access and implementation of new trading technologies in line with market trends. He is the Project Director of the Direct Market Access project.
Gerald started his career working for a financial IT consulting firm in 1992. He joined AtosEuronext in 1995 as Trading Business Analyst, where he served in this capacity for over 10 years. During this time, Gerald was involved in projects for numerous international exchanges such as Euronext NV, Warsaw Stock Exchange, Tokyo Stock Exchange, Chicago Mercantile Exchange and the Montreal Exchange, serving as Project Manager for some of the projects. His responsibilities included advising Exchanges on market models based on the features and functionalities of the Euronext trading system. Gerald also had a major role in the design of the Bursa Trade system, which is Bursa Malaysia's integrated derivatives and equities trading platform. He has extensive experience in the review, design and implementation of trading technology solutions.

Dean Chisholm is responsible for a wide range of Operations functions in the Asia Pacific region at Invesco. Invesco is a listed independent investment group, not related to any bank, trustee, custodian, insurance company or other financial institution. In Asia Pacific Invesco have fund management operations in Hong Kong, Melbourne, Taipei, Tokyo, Singapore and a joint venture in the PRC, manufacturing and distributing investment funds and other fund management products plus an Enterprise Centre in Hyderabad. Between 1995 and 1998, he was responsible for the regional Operations functions of LGT Asset Management before the acquisition by Invesco. From 1984 to 1993, he worked for PWC audit division in London and Hong Kong serving financial services clients. He is a past Chairman of the Hong Kong Securities Industry Group and currently Co Chairman of the OMGEO Hong Kong Advisory Board, a member of the SWIFT Funds Advisory Group and Asian Funds Automation Consortium. Mr. Chisholm has a Bachelor of Science in Monetary Economics from the London School of Economics. He is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales and is an Associate of the Hong Kong Society of Accountants.

Omar Merican, aged 49, a Malaysian, graduated with a Bachelor of Social Science (Hons) in Economics degree from the University of Birmingham, England and Masters in Science from The Massachusetts Institute of Technology, United States. Omar was founder and CEO of Merican and Partners Asset Management Sdn Bhd, a fund management company, from 1997 to 2004. Prior to running his own business, Omar worked in financial services institutions including Solomon Brothers in Hong Kong, James Capel (in Hong Kong and London) and O’Connor Associates between 1986 and 1996. Omar joined Bursa Malaysia on 16 September 2005.

Shireen Muhiudeen is Founder and Managing Director of Corston-Smith Asset Management. She has over 21 years of fund management experience in the ASEAN markets. She was CEO of AIG Investment Corporation (Asia) Ltd for seven years.
She began managing both conventional and Islamic funds in 1988 and is a regular speaker seminars and forums. As a proponent of Governance and Islamic Finance, she speaks at international forums on Governance within Islamic Fund Management.
As part of a Corporate Responsibility initiative, Corston-Smith wrote a financial handbook for youth in Malaysia in 2007, which was printed by the Malaysian Government. The book was written and distributed for free.
Corston-Smith has recently launched the Asean Corporate Governance Fund and the Asean Shariah Corporate Governance Fund with Hermes EOS from London.
Based in Kuala Lumpur, she now writes a monthly column “Governance Matters” in the Star newspaper.

Shareena Sheriff heads the Institution Supervision Department of the Market Supervision Division at the Securities Commission of Malaysia. The Institution Supervision Department supervises capital market institutions including the stock and futures exchanges, clearing houses and central depository. The Department also approves rules issued by these institutions. The Department is also involved in considering supervisory approach and policy, as necessary.
In the course of her career at the SC, she has held positions in various capacities. She has been involved in reforms of the securities laws, investigations into breaches of the law, initiatives with international bodies, WTO negotiations, demutualisation of Bursa Malaysia and audits on capital market institutions.

Andrew Tiang is one of the founders and the Managing Director of N2N Connect. He obtained his Diploma in Computer Studies from City and Guilds of London Institute, UK in 1982. He started his career as a trainee programmer with SGV Goh Tan Pte Ltd, a Singapore accounting cum software house and was promoted to senior consultant at the age of 25. In 1988, he left SGV Goh Tan Pte Ltd and headed the IT audit section of the regional audit division of Citibank N.A South Asia, based in Singapore and was subsequently awarded the Best IT Auditor for Asia Pacific Region in 1989. He joined Computer Associates Pte Ltd in 1990 as an Account Manager and quickly rose to become the Managing Director for Computer Associates Pte Ltd’s subsidiary in Malaysia in 1992. In 1996, he joined i2 Technologies Pte Ltd as a regional director to build an Asia presence. In 1998, he joined Exact Software N.V to spearhead the Asia Development Centre growing it from 30 personnel to 200 within a year. Having gained wide exposure in both information technology and business management, he began his entrepreneurial pursuit by founding N2N in year 2000.

Peter Tierney is the regional MD of NYSE Technologies responsible for Asia. NYSE Technologies is a division of NYSE Euronext.
Prior to joining NYSE Euronext, Mr. Tierney held various senior management positions at TransactTools, BT Radianz, Omgeo and Thomson Financial with extended postings in major financial centers in Europe, Latin America, Asia Pacific and the US.
Mr. Tierney’s previous roles cover strategic business development, sales and operational management, marketing and product development across front, middle and back office applications in the financial services space.
Based in Singapore, Mr. Tierney coordinates the customer facing activities (sales, presales, delivery and support) across the region through teams in Singapore, Tokyo and Hong Kong.
Peter is originally from Ireland and graduated university with a bachelors in engineering, specializing in electronics and computer science. He is married with 2 children – Liam (9) and Declan (7).
